Current Chapter (1)

Chapter One: The Red Association

Objectives: During this phase, we are trying to get them to associate the note C with the color Red, using music, drones, and toys. We are also trying to get them used to the sound of a drone (sustained pitch), with C serving as background/white noise.

Materials: C4 or C5 boomwhacker, deskbell, and resonator. As many red toys and decorations as possible. Good quality speakers.

Frequency: Twice daily for each of the three processes.

Process 1: Red Playtime

Play music from The Red Playlist while you & they play with red toys. ...That's it! Do this at least twice a day.

This music is either in C or prominently emphasizes C.

Process 2: Red Instruments

In front of them, plays Cs using the boomwhacker, deskbell, and/or resonator. This could be part of Process 1: Red Playtime, or not. This could be done while music is played, or not. However you do it, engage them with the Red Instruments.

Process 3: Red Distance Drones

This is the most valuable process in Chapter 1. From a distance, play one of the C Drones in the Red Drone Playlist. It should be strong enough that they can vaguely hear it, but no louder than that. We are trying to acquaint them with this sound so that it becomes a comforting/soothing background noise. This should be done at least twice a day for short period of time, with the length of time increasing throughout the six months.
